Serena Williams started what may be her final U.S. Open by defeating Danka Kovinic of Montenegro in straight sets, winning both 6-3, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on August 29, 2022. Williams has said she will “move on” from tennis after the tournament.
